Summer Seminar provides an essential platform for the growth of BC’s International Education sector. BCCIE’s annual conference brings together over 400 participants from our province, across Canada and beyond our borders. The conference attracts senior leaders, researchers, practitioners, student service providers, administrators, government, NGOs, and students to explore these ideas with the aim of strengthening our work and taking steps towards advancing outstanding leadership in the fields that comprise International Education in BC.

In January of 2016 the BC Ministry of Education announced Student and Teacher Exchange and Mobility Awards offering support for BC students and teachers to go abroad and further develop intercultural skills and competencies in support of the core competencies outlined in the BC curriculum. In the inaugural administration, 12 student groups with a total of approximately 200 participants and six BC teachers were awarded funding support. During this session you will hear from some of these award winners about their experiences abroad. You will also hear about how to plan student group and teacher excursions for your own school or district, utilizing the Organizing Student Group Study and Travel Abroad document.
